2012 / 2013 Eastern Tandem Off Road Rally

The Eastern Tandem Offroad Rally, ETR’s shaggy and unkempt black-sheep sibling, will be hosted in 2013 at Wharton State Forest in Southern New Jersey, situated in the beautiful and surprisingly remote Pine Barrens. Dates for the Fall 2013 are not set, but a three-day rally is planned, Friday through Sunday.

ETOR is moving! After several years at Minnewaska-Mohonk in the New York Catskills, the weekend event is moving south back to its alternative locale in the South Jersey Pine Barrens. The move in venue will allow offroad crews to enjoy around thirty miles of newly created and blazed single track trail in the Wharton State Forest. And even better – these are dedicated mountain bike trails, which means that they are not routinely shredded by horse hooves or dual-purpose enduro motorcycles, both of which can carve deep sugar-sand traps into the fragile sandy turf of the Barrens.

Pine Barrens Single Track

We are still making arrangements for host accomodations in the area, but ride starts will be from Batsto Historical site in Wharton State Forest. (The nearest town is Hammonton, NJ). Three days of riding: very small rollers, no traffic, no pavement after you leave the parking lot at Batsto. Incredibly remote for New Jersey. Of course we’re headed for rides through the remote and visually striking Wharton State Forest.

ETOR hosts Malcolm & Judy

The premier ride will be the 19 mile Penn Branch Loop, an expansive trail extending from Batsto Village north to the Penn Swamp and back, crossing no paved roads(!) Once you leave the nest of other trails near Batsto, you are out for a full day, unless you have an encyclopedic knowledge of the environs.

Perfect for transitioning from the summer road season to winter offroad, enjoy the Pine Barrens bug and tourist free!
Check back here for registration details as they become available.
