PPTC will do a repeat performance of a combined event with Eastern Tandem Rally. We can show off the wonderful Eastern Shore cycling to (and meet) cyclists from throughout the East Coast. Four days of riding: no hills, sparse traffic, wide shoulders, many roads near the water with world class environmental amenities. Great ferry ride to Oxford, MD for lunch and exploratory cycling.

The rally will be based at the Best Western Hotel in St. Michaels, MD. The price for the weekend of $145 per person includes: Thursday Pizza dinner and ice cream welcome party; Friday crab cake lunch and evening wine, cheese, and ice cream welcome party; and, Saturday lunch, gourmet dinner, and live entertainment. Friday night dinner is on your own at one of the many St. Michaels restaurants. Lodging is not included. If you want help finding a roommate contact Rich Tepel at rich.tepel@verizon.net. The Best Western and some of the other hotels in the area include a complimentary continental breakfast.

WHY YOU MUST GET YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY:

Capacity is limited to 200 and registration will be closed once the capacity is reached. We have obtained a block of discounted rooms at locations in St Michaels and Easton. Last year we filled all rooms at Best Western. We expect an early sellout of the 82 rooms at the Best Western in St Michaels because of the large number of tandems and single riders who will attend this combined rally. If you want to stay at the Best Western reserve a room now. Call the Motel (410-745-3333) and say you are registering for the Tandem Rally.

Other options are the motels in Easton or the bed and breakfasts around St Michaels. The Holiday Inn Express (410-819-6500) and the Hampton Inn (410-822-2200) are 10 miles, and the Days Inn (410-822-4600) is 12 miles. The Old Brick Inn (410-745-2243) in St Michaels is a half-mile away from the Best Western and has 20 rooms.

You can also camp at Martinak (410-820-1668) or Tuckahoe State Parks (410-820-1668). Both are about 25 mi away. Some riders with motor homes stayed there last year.

TANDEM WANNABEES: If you would like to rent a tandem for the weekend, you can contact Mt Airy Bicycles (Maryland) at 301-831-5151.

Thursday: Selection of rides for all levels in Talbot County. Pizza party dinner.

Friday: Visit Dorchester County. Remote start for ride to nationally renowned Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. Crab cake lunch.

Saturday: Selection of rides for all levels in Talbot County. Lunch and dinner in St Michaels. Saturday night entertainment by the live band Three Penny Opera.

Sunday: Mass start. 26 and 36 mile round trip ride to Tilghman Island. Few cars, no turns, no traffic lights, very wide shoulders. Out-and- back.

Included in weekend is a narrated ecology cruise. The tour will be offered at various times over the weekend.
